Description.

Designed for Cheryl and David, a couple from Los Angeles, this project reflects their vision of owning a European home where they could spend extended periods and host friends in the heart of Barcelona.

Located just steps from Passeig de Gràcia, the apartment is a stunning example of Catalan modernist architecture, featuring original hydraulic tile floors and soaring ceilings. The design approach centered on enhancing these historic elements while introducing a refined vintage aesthetic that feels both curated and livable.

Mediterranean-inspired interiors.

Inspired by the apartment’s own identity — Mediterranean light, architectural heritage, and the rich chromatic patterns of the tiles — the interiors were developed with a strong sense of place. The color palette naturally emerges from the flooring, creating cohesion across each space.

The Study Area.

A bespoke study area, defined by a full wall library and a deep blue sofa, offers a quiet and intimate retreat within the home. Throughout the apartment, sculptural ceiling lamps and carefully curated artworks — including pieces by French artist Pitú — introduce visual rhythm and personality.

The Result.

This modernist apartment interior design in Barcelona results in a warm, elegant, and character-driven home that balances historical authenticity with contemporary comfort.
